What is the NCLEX-RN, and why do I need it?
- The NCLEX-RN (National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses) is a standardized exam that every nursing graduate must pass to obtain their RN license. It’s administered by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) and tests your ability to apply nursing knowledge to real-world clinical situations.
How many questions are on the NCLEX-RN?
- The NCLEX-RN uses Computerized Adaptive Testing (CAT), so the number of questions varies between 85 and 150. The exam ends when the algorithm determines with 95% confidence whether you’re above or below the passing standard. Most candidates finish between 85-100 questions.
What are NGN questions and are they on the NCLEX-RN?
- NGN (Next Generation NCLEX) questions were introduced in April 2023 to better assess clinical judgment. These include new item types like case studies, bow-tie items, drag-and-drop rationales, and extended multiple response questions. Approximately 20% of your exam will be NGN items.
What is the current NCLEX-RN pass rate?
